The History of the Trouties
The Trout Anglers Club, Edinburgh has a rich history dating back to the late 19th century.
It was during 1886 that the idea of forming social clubs for anglers in Scotland was first suggested through a letter to the ‘Scots Angler’ paper. Following this, a group of dedicated anglers decided to establish the Scottish Trout Anglers’ Association in 1898, and the Edinburgh Branch of the Association was formed the subsequent year. The first meeting of the Trout Anglers’ Club in Edinburgh took place on 16th November 1899.
Originally located on Rutland Street, the club moved to its current premises at 29 Dundas Street in 1966. The club aims to promote social activities among anglers and further the interests of their art.
Over the years, the Edinburgh Trout Anglers’ Club has been graced with several members who have achieved international honors in angling.
